Walking through our display garden over the weekend the signs of spring are clear. The Snowdrops, Galanthus, are in full bloom, the Primrose, Primula, are slowing emerging and the Lenten Roses, Helleborus, are quietly budding under their cover of mulch and leaves. Lenten Roses are getting well deserved attention lately. There is great feature in Canadian Gardening which explains in detail how to care these beautiful early spring bloomers in our climate. To us their greatest feature is how long they keep their blooms. You can easily enjoy their flowers for months. One of our favourite varieties is 'Ivory Prince'. This photo was taken at the nursery in the 2008 season.
There will be new and exciting selections available this season. I will post an update with photos when they are arrive.
